The center of competence Simulation of Components and Components Behavior, SimBAU is equipped with a number of Finite Element software packages. This allows to answer a large variety of questions by choosing the most appropriate Finite Element Software and, when necessary, to develop additional tools like User Material Models.

The following Finite Element codes are available:

  • ABAQUS/Standard dedicated to structural mechanics and thermo mechanical problems

  • ABAQUS/Explicit a Finite Element Code that allows for the study of short time problems or studies involving high nonlinearities and contact
    problems

  • LS-DYNA for the study of three dimensional structural analyses in the framework of linear dynamics (crash, hydro forming, fluid dynamics,..)

  • PAM-CRASH for crash simulation

  • PAM-STAMP for the simulation of forming processes and forging

  • PSU to analyze problems of non linear effects due to large

  • SYSWELD for the simulation of welding or of problems involving thermal treatments
  • ANSYS Flexible simulation solutions for every phase of product development

SimBau uses the following softwares to import geometrical data from CAD programs and to treat inputs and outputs such as experimental material data and finite element results efficiently:

  • ABAQUS/Viewer as post-processor

  • HyperMesh as pre- and post-processor

  • MSC.Patran as pre- and post-processor

  • REDUCE to treat experimental results

  • FITIT allows to fit automatically experimental results in order to get the set of material parameters for non linear material models
