   Stress analyses

Stress analyses based on numerical simulation techniques are often employed to solve all kinds of problems related to the design of components and structures, and the assessment of safety and reliability. IWM and SimBAU are engaged in improving the available commercial simulation tools, for instance by further developing constitutive models.

Simulation techniques gain more and more relevance also for the optimization of products and manufacturing processes. Numerical simulation in combination with approbriate mechanical testing provides reliable information regarding an optimized way of production and also regarding safety and life endurence of components even in early stages of the development.

Thus one is able to shorten both the development lead times and the costs. One goal is to put into effect a continuous simulation of process chains as a basis of virtual product development.
