   Network Profile

SimBAU - the center of competence Simulation of Components and Behaviour of Components - offers profound competence in material related aspects of simulation. SimBAU aims at providing industrial partners with the necessary assistance towards introduction and application of numerical simulation tools as well as new concepts for speeding up innovation cycles. Hence, it helps to improve their ranking in the global market.

   Protagonists

The centre of competence SimBAU is operated by the Fraunhofer-Institutes Mechanics of Materials (IWM) located in Freiburg and Halle and Applied Materials Research (IFAM). Within SimBAU, IFAM focuses on metal-foam filled components, IWM promotes the development of material models suitable for instance for
  Crash simulation
Creep or thermo-mechanical fatigue of components
(exhaust gas, power plant, turbine blades, a.s.o.)
  Assessment of welded joints
Assessment of micro-systems and layered systems
Assessment of joining techniques for composite materials
